Dr. Pacchi of BCN Concerie, Eng. Cappello of the University of Pisa and Eng. Bernardi of Consorzio Aquarno introduced the topic of “sustainable research” to senior students of the Cattaneo Institute in San Miniato.
At the institute, the speakers talked about the issues related to environmental impacts attributable to VOCs, how they are regulated today and how the idea of optimizing their abatement came about.
The big news in sustainable research lies in finding a purpose for every element now considered waste, redirecting it into the business process to improve the quality of operators’ work and reduce environmental impacts as much as possible. These goals must be pursued in a concrete, pragmatic and reasonable way and projects must be feasible while avoiding substantial cost increases.
The Revoc4life project team asked students how this can be achieved.
The question may seem vague, yet the answer is already in everyday reality if we think about collaboration among talent, companies and institutions.
Revoc4Life is a research project wanted and built by Italian companies for the common good: Revoc4life is not only a plant that will improve productivity and reduce environmental impacts in the air, it also represents the collaboration of multiple professionals such as engineers, chemists, workers, welders, administrators and many others.
Each person involved in the project goes on to redesign the VOC abatement plant to make it modular and effective. This is designed to adapt to various industries and moved by a circular economy system that will reduce environmental and economic impact.
